Another strange twist in the ongoing saga in Twitterworld, Elon Musk once again makes headlines with the announcement of a new CEO at Twitter.
Her name is Linda Yaccarino.
New Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino is a high-ranking member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) and has held the position of WEF Executive Chair since 2019, attending Klaus Schwab’s annual Davos WEF Summit. At the 2023 Davos Summit, Ms. Yaccarino was scheduled to give a 30-minute presentation at the summit on the topic of “Sport in Industry and Society.”
Yaccarino, who has also worked for NBC Universal where she was the Chair of Advertising sales, was named Twitter’s new CEO on Friday.
The new Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino lists her affiliation with Klaus Schwab’s World Economic Forum (WEF) on her LinkedIn profile, stating that she’s served as a World Economic Forum Executive Chair since January 2019. Linda also served as Chairman, advertising and Client partnerships (Sep 2012-Oct 2020) and President of Cable Entertainment and Digital Advertising Sales (Nov 2011-Oct 2012) for NBC Universal
“Yaccarino is the Chairman of the WEF’s Taskforce on Future of Work and sits on the WEF’s Media, Entertainment, and Culture Industry Governors Steering Committee,” a biography on her Linked profile reads.
“She is also highly engaged with the [WEF’s] Value in Media initiative,” Yaccarino’s biography adds, citing her work with a WEF program that seeks to maximize the globalist influence operation and its affiliates’ roles in the media “ecosystem”.

Yaccarino has also shown support for multiple left leaning issues, promoting mask wearing, social justice and equality at NBCU and for progressing toward hiring 50% of women and 50% people of color. She also has been in favor of some online censorship, even suggesting previously that Twitter owner Elon Musk censor his own use of the platform. While many have expressed concerns it should be noted that in 2018, Trump appointed Yaccarino to serve a two-year term on his administration’s council of Sports Fitness and Nutrition.
In a tweet announcing Yaccarino’s hiring as Twitter CEO, Elon Musk wrote that he’s “excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter,” and explained that Yaccarino “will focus primarily on business operations.”
Musk added that he will “focus on product design & new technology.”
The announcement of the new CEO comes less than a week after Tucker Carlson, previous Fox News Host with the top ratings rank for all news programs, announced that he will be launching a new show exclusively on the Twitter platform.
In response to Mr. Carlson’s tweet, Mr. Musk posted on Twitter that “we have not signed a deal of any kind whatsoever.” He added that Mr. Carlson would be “subject to the same rules & rewards of all content creators.”
Tucker Carlson's favors free speech and has emphasized this position on numerous occasions over the past few weeks as well as regularly on his Fox News program. This seems at odds with the comments Ms Yaccarino has made regarding corporate sponsors being needed for advertising revenues at Twitter.
Mr. Musk maybe hedging his bets by bringing Tucker Carlson and other content creators onboard and placing them behind a paywall, while others will have to compete for advertisement revenues from corporate entities. It's not a new idea, but one that could backfire and push creators to other popular platforms.
